Keto Masala Fries

A delicious 0 Net Carb snack

Who doesn't love fries? Well in the keto / low carb journey, the one thing that I missed the most where fries, But there is absolutely nothing about regular fries that are even REMOTELY keto. I have tried the various veggie fries out there, but somehow, they always lacked that extra crunch and didn't really satisfy any cravings.


The other day I just happened to find some Halloumi Cheese at the store. I have never really used this cheese before, but was excited to try it! I just decided to coat it with some spices and almond flour and just have as a snack... Well guess what! They tasted like FRIES! And the BEST PART... each serving is 'zero' net carb!

Prep Time: 15 mins Cooking Time: 5 mins


Ingredients

  1. Ghee (melted) / Olive Oil - 1 tsp

  2. Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp

  3. Jeera / Cumin powder - 1/2 tsp

  4. Chilli Powder / Cayenne - 1/2 tsp

  5. Almond Flour - 1 tsp

  6. Halloumi Cheese, cut into long think pieces (resembling fries) - 50g

Method of Preparation

  1. In a bowl mix the ghee / olive oil, turmeric powder, cumin powder, cayenne and almond flour to form a marinade

  2. Add the Halloumi cheese and evenly coat each piece with the marinade

  3. Rest for at least 15 mintues

  4. In a hot pan, add the marinated halloumi cheese and cook each side until its golden brown, about 1 to 2 minutes on each side.

  5. Remove from the pan

  6. Enjoy as a snack or a side with your favorite salad / sandwich!
